FAQs

  • I provide structural reviews and PE-sealed letters for residential and light commercial projects in Connecticut. This includes beam and load-bearing wall modifications, framing changes, rooftop equipment, decks and porches, and permit-related structural letters.

If you’re unsure whether your project fits, submit a request and I’ll let you know.

  • Both. I regularly work with homeowners, contractors, architects, and small business owners. The process is the same regardless of who submits the request.

  • You submit your request using the Start a Project form and upload any available plans, sketches, or photos. I review the information, confirm scope, timeline, and fee, and then proceed once everything is agreed upon.

Many reviews can be completed without a site visit.

  • Turnaround time depends on scope and complexity, but many reviews are completed within a few business days after scope and fee are confirmed.

If timing is critical, note that in your submission.

  • Each letter clearly states:

    • What was reviewed

    • Applicable assumptions and limitations

    • Whether the condition meets structural requirements within the stated scope

Letters are suitable for permit submission and written in a format familiar to Connecticut building officials.

  • I am a Connecticut-licensed Professional Engineer, and my letters are prepared specifically for permit and review purposes.

While final approval always rests with the building official, I can follow up to clarify questions within the original scope if needed.

  • Not always. Many projects can be reviewed using plans, sketches, and photographs.

If a site visit is necessary, I’ll let you know before proceeding.

  • Fees vary based on scope, complexity, and available documentation.
For most residential and light commercial projects, fees typically range from $400 to $1,200.

You’ll receive fee confirmation before any work begins.

  • I don’t offer open-ended consultations. The intake process allows me to efficiently review your request and determine whether I can help.

This keeps turnaround times fast and pricing fair.
